Vega One nutritional shake is marketed as completely vegan, enhanced with multi-vitamins.
Per serving you are getting:
- 20 grams of protein
- 6 grams of fiber
- 6 servings of greens
- 50% of RDA of vitamins
- omega 3’s
This is quite nutritionally dense for just one scoop of protein powder.
All the ingredients are non GMO and sourced from whole foods.
The first three ingredients, aka the bulk of what you’re consuming are:
pea protein, micro milled flaxseed and acia gum
It is sweetened with stevia, a safe natural sweetener, and uses all natural flavourings.
The texture is like a typical vegan protein powder, heavier and chalky. The taste is also a bit chalky, but I’ve tried many vegan protein powders and this seems to be pretty standard in terms of taste.
My favourite flavour was the chocolate one.
Vega One is a good quality product that uses ingredients that will actually nourish you. As mentioned, its nutritional profile is impressive.
However, I was not fond of the taste. In it’s defence, I was never fond of the chalky taste of vegan protein powders and this is not so much a complaint about this product as it is about vegan protein powder in general.
I have heard that peanut butter protein powder tastes pretty good though, and I plan on trying this out in the near future.
Cost wise Vega One protein powder is just not in my budget. If I was to consume a serving of Vega One everyday, it would cost me $120.00 a month. Being lower middle class, I just can’t afford this and I’m better off buying a jar of peanut butter and some bananas.
I use Vega One protein powder as an emergency meal if I am on the go and I need a quick fill-me-up. It is a nutritional, convenient option for me. Just not one I use everyday!
