Incorporating loving yourself exercises into your daily habits and adopting them as a way of life will not only contribute to your success, but it will also influence your overall happiness.
Below are 4 effective things you can do that will raise your self-confidence and thus strengthen your self-love.
1. Utilize Affirmations
Affirmations are small mantras or saying that you tell yourself everyday. Despite the simplicity of affirmations, they are very powerful because when used repeatedly they have been known to re-program your subconscious.
Your subconscious is not biased towards any thought that you have in your conscious mind, negative or positive. Whatever you are thinking on a daily basis is what your subconscious will accept.
Talking kindly to yourself by using mantras such as “I like myself” or “I am special” repeatedly will override any other negative ideas that you hold about yourself and it will rewire you self-image. You cannot hold two contradicting thoughts in your head at the same time.
Once you swap out your negative self-talk with positive, encouraging mantras you will literally start to believe what you are saying to yourself. You will start to act in accordance to your new self-image and pursue goals and achievements that will benefit you.
Note: By “repeatedly” I’m talking numerous times a day, this only works if you do it at LEAST 5x a day, everyday. Figure out a way to remind yourself several times a day to repeat your mantra. Even if you have to set an alarm on your phone, it’s worth it! The best times are right when you wake up and right before bed.

2. Develop and Strengthen Your Skills
When you are good at something, you automatically like yourself. It’s pretty inevitable. Skills are the medium through which people offer value to the world and other people. When you can offer value, you feel valuable.
Make it a priority to work on yourself everyday. It doesn’t have to be for 8 hours, even a mere hour a day will do wonders for improving your abilities. Set aside that time, do the work, and your future self will thank you.
Ensure that the abilities you choose to improve actually mean something to you. Make sure that you are passionate, and that you are truly interested in your pursuits. It is pointless to expend a large amount of accumulated time and energy on something that does not involve your heart.

3. Strive Towards Your Goals
Goals are the single most important tool for becoming the leader of your life. When you feel like you are the determining factor in how your life plays out, it will evoke a sense of empowerment. It is impossible to practice self-love from a position of helplessness.
If you do not have goals, now is the time to create some. All you need is 10 minutes, a pen, and a clean sheet of paper. Write your top five goals down in as much detail as possible.
Be completely aware of what you want to happen in your life, and everyday when you wake up remember your goals and remember that you have something you are working towards. Your goals will give you purpose, they will give you your “why” for being here.
Purpose is a compelling force for raising your self-image and loving yourself, because when you are living for a purpose you realize that you are a part of something greater than yourself, you are a part of a grander scheme beyond just you.

4. Take Care of Your Body
It is very difficult to do anything worthwhile in ill-health. If you do not take care of your body, your are telling your subconscious self “I don’t care about you.”
Your body is absolutely wondrous. It has the intelligence to heal your wounds, create new life, and regulate itself without your conscious involvement. Think about that. It’s astounding.
When you are in a healthy state physically it will affect every aspect of your life and it plays a significant factor in determining your capacity to achieve.
Being in excellent health means you will think with more clarity and you will have the energy to pursue your goals. You will be in the right mood more often and have the enthusiasm to love every moment of your life, and every part of yourself.
When your body is functioning perfectly, the love will just pour out of you. It is your natural state.
